Eat Nutritious with Natural Foods

When you go to the grocery store or supermarket to purchase some fruits or veggies, do you pick just any produce or are youspecific about getting organic foods? There is a big difference between the two and, after our conversation, you may make a decisionthat natural foods are the way to go. Let’s examine the use of getting organic produce.

While both kinds of produce may look the same, natural foods must be able to meet particular requirements of production,including specific growing and processing conditions that are distinctive to foods that can be labeled “organic”. For cropfoods, the organic foods can’t be grown using any chemical pesticides, non-organic fertilizer, human waste fertilizer orsludge from sewage. They also can’t be processed using ionizing radiation—a process that kills bacteria but that somepeople believe is dangerous. Lastly, the food can’t be genetically altered.At one point, organic foods were grown on small farms, mainly those that were family-owned and managed.

In today’stime, however, organic foods are grown on larger farms and are more on hand in most supermarkets, co-ops andhealth food stores. In the US, parts of Europe and Japan, the production of natural foods is currently federally regulatedand in other countries, specific natural certification is required before these foods can be sold.Organic foods may include fresh vegetables and fruits, which are not processed and come from the farmers throughfarmer’s markets, supermarkets and roadside stands. Many of these products are limited during certain times of theyear. One can also get natural eggs, dairy products and meat in their fresh and unprocessed forms.

Natural eggs are often provided by free-range chickens and not from those kept in cages in large, egg factories.Natural meats must not come from animals that have been helped by any growth hormones, steroids or antibiotics.Processed natural foods can be found in the organic food portion of the supermarket but often are more expensive thank their conventional food counterparts.

Processed organic foods can include canned products, frozen produce, prepared itemsand even snack foods.In fact, processed organic foods need only contain a certain percentage of organic ingredients. In Australia, forexample, a food can be labeled “organic” if it contains at least 95% organic ingredients.

In other countries, however,the percentage can be less than that. However, those non-organic ingredients must be free of artificial food additivesand no aspect of the food can be processed using chemical ripening approaches, genetic modification or irradiation. Insome cases, the organic food must be made using energy-saving techniques and packaged in recyclable or biodegradablematerials.It’s not always easy to recognize whether or not your food is truly organic.

Occasionally, you need to get directly from anorganic grower in order to be certain the food is natural. More recently, however, foods that are natural can beidentified by governmental labeling, stating that the food is “certified organic”.Because of the security and wholesomeness of organic foods, you may wish to do you and your family a big favor by purchasing onlyorganic products. The food tastes excellent and you can be assured you’re getting a merchandise that won’t be harmful to you.
